Toning refers to producing a sustained pitch with your voice, either by humming or by holding short (not long) vowel sounds. The tone may be so quiet as to be imperceptible to anyone other than you, or it may be louder. Such a sound creates a vibration which, on the physiological level, releases tension and encourages relaxation. It can draw your awareness deep within your body, providing an opportunity for identifying health issues and for healing. One way we invite you to interact with vibrational images is through toning. While viewing any Mandala, hum, or sing a short vowel sound ‹ pronounced AH (as in far), EH (as in end), EE (as in see), OH (as in own), or OU (as in who). Note whether, and where, you feel a resonance in your body. Do your hands tingle? Does your chest or head vibrate? Try toning with several different images to learn whether you perceive different results. |
